NATIONAL BOAT SAFETY WEEK
National Safe Boating Week will be held from May 22-28, 2021. “This observance week is the annual kick-off of the Safe Boating Campaign, a global awareness effort that encourages boaters to make the most of their boating adventure by being responsible.” According to the US Coast Guard, human error accounts for most boating accidents and life jackets could prevent nearly 86 percent of boating fatalities. Check out the NSBC’s seven safety recommendations below:
- Wear your life jacket
- Take a boating safety class
- Carry all required safety gear
- Use your engine cut-off device
- File a float plan
- Be aware of weather and water conditions
- Boat sober, and be considerate of others
