SPOKANE VALLEY FIRE RESPONDS TO FIRE ON EAST SUNNYSIDE DRIVE
SCFD8 AND SVFD WORK TOGETHER FOR RAPID KNOCK DOWN

The Spokane Valley Fire Department (SVFD) responded to a reported apartment fire around 1:00 p.m. near South Early Dawn Drive and East 21st Avenue. A person reported the fire to 911 stating a basement room was on fire with black smoke visible but no flames. SVFD crews arrived to find a small 1-story residence with smoke coming from an open garage and occupants outside. The fire was confirmed to be in the basement and was knocked down within 12 minutes of the 911 call. The fire was contained to the room of origin.
Approximately 12 responding units including engines, ladder trucks, command vehicles, and an investigating officer. Valley Engine 7 was first on scene and was able to make a quick assessment to pass onto the incoming Battalion Chief who took command of the scene and directed an offensive approach to fighting the fire. SVFD received automatic aid from Spokane County Fire District 8 (SCFD8).
SVFD would like to remain residents side roads continue to be slick so please slow down, be patient, be aware of road conditions, and give yourself plenty of time to reach your destination safely. Also, please remember to pull right for sirens and lights. Let’s keep everyone going home safely this winter. SVFD would also like to remind residents or occupants of facilities with onsite fire extinguishers to be aware of their location.
