SPOKANE VALLEY RESPONDS TO 911 HAZARDOUS MATERIAL CALL IN LIBERTY LAKE
EXCAVATION IN AREA SEVERED GAS LINE
******************************************************
Spokane Valley Fire Department (SVFD) responded to an excavation site in the 21300 block of E Vista Drive in Liberty Lake where a natural gas line was hit this afternoon around 1:50 p.m. Upon arrival, crews noted the wind was blowing from the south and observed a 2-inch free flowing line approximately 25 feet from a home in the Legacy Ridge area development where an excavator hit a 2-inch gas line, severing it.
The following trucks were dispatched to the area, Engine 85, Valley Ladder 10 (VL10), Valley Engine 4 (VE4), Valley 31 (V31), Valley 22 (V22), VCS, EM1.
V22 established Vista Command and V31 was assigned safety and performed a 360 of the location to establish safety. Spokane Valley Fire crews blocked and isolated the area. One home was evacuated, and other homes were required to shelter in place until Avista was able to arrive on scene and secure the gas line.
Spokane Valley Fire wants to thank District 8, as an Auto-Aid partner for sending E85 to this incident.
Spokane Valley Fire wants to remind everyone to remember to call 811 before you dig!
