SPOKANE VALLEY FIRE RESPONDS TO RV FIRE EARLY THIS MORNING
***********************************************
Spokane Valley Fire Department (SVFD) responded early this morning to a call for an RV on fire near the 4200 block of Best and Trent around 8:03 a.m. SVFD investigator, Dustin Thurman’s initial findings show the failure of a rubber propane hose as the contributing factor. The leaking hose was undetected by the occupants. One of them lit a cigarette inside the RV, causing the gas from the leaking hose to ignite.
There were 3 people & 1 dog inside. The RV was being used as a home. One occupant, a female, was transported to the hospital for minor burns. Two occupants escaped through the rear fire escape windows. The other escaped through a different window that had to be broken by someone on the outside. The Great Dane that lived there as well, did not survive.
Spokane Valley Fire wants to remind citizens to check their smoke alarms regularly and to have an in-home escape plan prepared. It is more important than ever to practice safety around our homes to keep everyone safe and healthy every day.
