SPOKANE VALLEY FIRE DEPARTMENT RESPONDS TO APARTMENT FIRE
**********************************************
The Spokane Valley Fire Department responded to a reported apartment fire at approximately 1935 today in the 6800 block of East 2nd Avenue.
A neighbor across the street called 911, stating that they could see fire in an apartment through the front window. The first arriving crews found a fully involved apartment and aggressively attacked the fire, while other crews searched adjoining apartments to ensure that no one was inside.
The fire was quickly knocked down before spreading to adjoining units. Two units had smoke and water damage. A total of seven residents were displaced by the fire. The Red Cross was contacted to assist the residents.
A total of 12 fire units responded to the call, including several units from the Spokane Fire Department as part of auto aid.
Pictures are available on the SVFD Facebook page.
SVFD would like to remind residents to ensure that their smoke detectors are operating properly. Several active smoke detectors could be heard in the apartments.
