SPOKANE VALLEY FIRE DEPARTMENT LAUNCHES HIGH-TECH FIREFIGHTER WELLNESS PROGRAM IN PARTNERSHIP WITH CORDICO
******************************************************
Spokane Valley Fire Department (SVFD) Fire Chief, Bryan Collins, Local 3701 President and Division Chief, Andy Rorie, and Local 876 President and Engineer, Shawn Pichette are pleased to announce plans to provide firefighters with a high-tech wellness solution to support their mental health and well-being.
“This tool will not only help our Firefighters and Officers,” said SVFD Fire Chief, Bryan Collins, “our retirees, and the families of our Firefighters and Officers will have access to these highly confidential services as well. This is a long anticipated and needed tool for the Fire Industry.”
The Spokane Valley Fire Department Wellness App provides access to therapists, peer support, and on-demand 24/7 access to topics such as alcohol awareness, depression, emotional health, family support, financial fitness, mindfulness, psychological first aid, sleep optimization, and stress management.
“This week we will spend time with each of our shifts to talk about this wellness tool,” said Local 3701 President and Division Chief, Andy Rorie. “And, how impactful it can be to all Fire Department personnel and their families. We are especially excited to also share it with SVFD Retirees.”
The Spokane Valley Fire Department will be rolling out their new Cordico Wellness App throughout this week.
“This is a much needed tool for our Firefighters and their well-being,” said Local 876 President and Engineer, Shawn Pichette. “When we go on a call, we experience our community members worst days with them. This tool will give us a confidential resource to help us process all that happens to us, every day we go to work.”
Dr. David Black, CEO of Cordico emphasized, “No one should ever feel blocked from accessing help at times of need due to their schedule or location or concerns about confidentiality, and that is especially true for our public safety personnel who dedicate their professional lives to responding to others’ emergencies.”
