The City of Liberty Lake’s newly-adopted Municipal Flag will soon be flying at Spokane Valley Fire Department’s Station #3, located in Liberty Lake. Fire Chief Collins served on the selection committee.
February is “American Heart Month” and as such I thought it appropriate to discuss some of the things we do here at Spokane Valley Fire Department to encourage our employees to take care of their hearts and to lead healthy lives.
Last week, 26 middle school students had the chance to try on firefighter gear and ask burning questions about what it’s like to be a Spokane Valley firefighter. Teams of off-duty firefighters spoke with students participating in the HUB 360 after-school program.
On October 30, 2017, Richardson was off-duty coaching his son’s football team when a player collapsed on the sideline. Richardson quickly took off the player’s shirt and pads and began CPR while another coach administered the AED and a third man called 911. This team effort saved the young man’s life.
Carbon monoxide poisoning is believed to have killed two Coulee City, WA residents on February 12, 2018. A man and a woman were found dead inside their home in a trailer park, just after 7 pm. Investigators believe the two were killed by carbon monoxide poisoning from either a propane appliance or propane heater.
