MEET SVFD NEW FIREFIGHTER, PJ HALVERSON
SVFD has hired 14 new Firefighters to the SVFD Team. Recruit training began Tuesday, September 3 at the Fire Training Center and will run for 15 weeks.
PJ Halverson joins SVFD as one of our new recruits!
PJ spent 4 years in the United States Marine Corps! Thank you for your service PJ, it’s an honor to have you join our team here at the SVFD.
PJ spent two seasons working for the Bureau of Land Management with the Wildland Hand crew. This training and experience will come in handy this week in recruit school during Wildland Training Ops. Additional experience includes EMT Training and NWCG FFT 2 training.
PJ joins the other recruits in their love of the outdoors. He enjoys camping, dirt biking, carpentry, and is skilled at tree felling.
If that isn’t enough, he is also really smart. He has an A.A. in both physics and mathematics. That 1500 page book will not be a challenge for PJ!
All recruits will have to pass exams throughout the training on skills learned. After graduation, crews will be rotated through different station assignments and will be on probation for 1 year.
We welcome PJ Halverson and wish him a very successful academy!
