MEET SVFD NEW FIREFIGHTER, CONNOR ROSE
SVFD has hired 14 new Firefighters to the SVFD Team. Recruit training began Tuesday, September 3 at the Fire Training Center and will run for 15 weeks.
Connor Rose is one of our new recruits!
Connor graduated from Eastern Washington University in 2018 with a BA in Public Relations. He volunteered for 3 years at SCFD 3. Additionally, he spent 1.5 years part-time at Cheney Fire Department.
Connor is trained as an EMT, attended the Structure Academy, and Red Card.
He has experience in strong labor intensive work pouring and laying asphalt and concrete. That’s hard work out in those hot summer days! It’s fun to have recruits like Connor who enjoy outdoor activities like camping, hiking, and skiing. Oh yeah, and the Seahawks! Thanks for joining our team Connor.
This week crews are focused on Wildland Fire Training.
Connor has trained over the past 3 weeks in:
- The Confidence Climb and Burn
- The fitness Challenge
- Ground Ladders
- Ropes & Loss Control
- And like everyone else, reading and studying that big 1500 page manual.
All recruits will have to pass exams throughout the training on skills learned. After graduation, crews will be rotated through different station assignments and will be on probation for 1 year.
We welcome Connor Rose and wish him a very successful academy!
