LIBERTY LAKE RESIDENT RAISING MONEY TO DONATE PET OXYGEN MASKS TO SPOKANE VALLEY FIRE DEPARTMENT
PET MASKS PROTECT PETS AGAINST SMOKE INHILATION
****************************************************
Spokane Valley Fire Department (SVFD) supports protecting pets from wildfire smoke and poor air quality. In 2018 the SVFD equipped each front line fire engine and ladder truck with a Pet Oxygen Mask Kit. Cora Kelly, a Liberty Lake resident is raising money at the Annual Liberty Lake Yard sale to donate more Pet Oxygen Mask Kits to the SVFD.
“By placing Project Breathe™ pet oxygen kits on each front line apparatus, it ensures that if we need a mask we will have one available,” explained SVFD Paramedic, Nick Zambryski. “The same precautions you take for yourself in a smoke enhanced and poor air quality situation should be applied for your pets.”
The fine particles are the greatest danger to pets. These have the potential to reach deep into the lungs and cause a variety of health issues such as burning eyes and chronic congestion. Keeping pets inside just like people, is the best way to protect your pet. When they do need to go outdoors, pet masks are an option to protect them from those harmful particles. Seattle Firefighters were able to resuscitate a pet in Carnation with the use of pet oxygen masks as reported on KING 5 news just yesterday.
In Liberty Lake this weekend during the 26th Annual Liberty Lake Yard sale, Cora wants to donate all of her proceeds to the purchase of pet masks for donation to the SVFD. She is selling succulent plants and concrete leaf holders during the yard sale and is advertising that all proceeds of succulent sales go to the Spokane Valley Fire Department. Once the sale is over, she will purchase the Masks and deliver them to the Liberty Lake station.
The event is being held this weekend in Liberty Lake.
