Firefighters Respond to Residential Structure Fire
**********************************************
Spokane Valley Fire Department (SVFD) units responded around 11:45 this morning to a reported residential structure fire in the 12600 block of East 16th Avenue in the Spokane Valley.
A Spokane County Sheriff’s Officer was the first unit on scene and he reported that he was unable to access the front door due to the smoke and flames coming from the front of the residence. Valley Engine 1 and Valley Engine 9 initiated an aggressive fire attack from the front of the building and were able to quickly knock down the fire. The fire appears to have been confined to the room and contents at the front of the residence. After the initial knockdown, suppression efforts were halted to allow a Fire Investigator to attempt to determine the cause of the fire. At this time, the cause is still undetermined.
Three adults live at the residence, but no one was home at the time of the fire.
A total of 12 SVFD units responded to the call, and there were no reported injuries.
SVFD would like to remind everybody to check and maintain their smoke detectors.
