FIRE SAFETY MESSAGE FROM SVFD FIRE CHIEF, BRYAN COLLINS
As we head into summer weather and wildfire season, Spokane Valley Fire Department Fire Chief, Bryan Collins has some fire safety concerns for our community.
Illegal burning is a growing category for the Spokane Valley Fire Department. In 2016, we had 90 incidence.
- 2017 – 81
- 2018 – 93
- 2019 – 100
This year so far in 2020 just 5 months into the year, we have had a total of 173 incidents. We are urging residents as we go into Wildfire Season this summer, to follow proper legal burning requirements.
Yard waste and other materials go in the green bins or can be taken to the dump for composting.
For backyard legal fires, use clean wood products.
If you have questions, call us at 509.928.1700 or go to Spokanecleanair.org

We want to keep this community safe and healthy no matter what season it is.
