COMMUNITY RISK REDUCTION (CRR) WEEK
Each of the city councils of Liberty Lake, Millwood, and Spokane Valley have proclaimed January 18 – 24, 2021, as CRR Week! We invite you to learn about CRR as we participate in the second annual CRR Week campaign. CRR Week is an opportunity for fire departments across the nation to share the proactive work we do to eliminate and/or mitigate risks within our communities. The goal of CRR is to build healthy, safe, and resilient communities. You might say it is what we do to “get ahead of the call.”
There are five strategies (the 5E’s of CRR) that fire departments use to address their communities’ risks. These strategies are driven by data-informed processes that help identify and prioritize risk. The 5E’s include EDUCATION, ENGINEERING, ENFORCEMENT, ECONOMIC INCENTIVE, and EMERGENCY RESPONSE. Throughout CRR Week, we will discuss each of these and share with you the ways we work to “get ahead of the call.” Watch us on our social media channels as we bring to you conversations with our Fire Chief, Fire Marshal, EMS Chief, firefighters, and some key community partners.
