As of 2020, Spokane Valley is the 9th largest city in Washington state with a population of more than 100,000 residents. Spokane Valley offers 11 city parks, 3 city pools, 7 miles of the Centennial Trail, and 5.6 miles of the Appleway Trail — making it a great city to live in if you love the outdoors! Spokane Valley is also home to the Spokane Indians baseball team at Avista Stadium, CenterPlace Regional Event Center, and the Spokane County Fair and Expo Center. Spokane Valley Fire Department employs more than 175 firefighters, some of whom are also officers, paramedics or apparatus engineers. All firefighters are Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs). Many become members of special teams within the Department, skilled in various specialties. Firefighters work one 24-hour shift from 0800-0800, every third day. We also employ about 25 administrative staff who support the work of firefighters.
