ARE YOU PREPARED FOR AN EMERGENCY EVACUATION?
During the Joint Chiefs’ meeting, a report was given on the County Evacuation Plan by Chandra Fox, Deputy Director of the Department of Emergency management. TV and radio Public Service Announcements will begin airing on all local area stations beginning July 22.
Materials reported included Evacuation Levels Guidelines, Emergency Evacuation Grab and Go List, and an overall County All Hazards Evacuation Plan.
The evacuation levels are:
- 1 (red) Get ready
- 2 (yellow) Get set to leave
- 3 (green) Go, leave immediately
The Emergency Grab and Go list also ranges from 1 to 3 and includes a plan for each level of items to bring:
- Level 3 –5 minute evacuation preparedness list
- Level 2 –15 – 30 minute evacuation preparedness list
- Level 1 – 1 hour evacuation preparedness list
Emergency evacuations can happen for a number of reasons. Being prepared can be the difference in having an emergency folder, comfort items, important documents, memorabilia, or something as simple as a backup cell phone charger.
