2020 COVID RESPONSE RECAP (PART 1)
Councilmember Dan Dunne, from the City of Liberty Lake reached out to us here at Spokane Valley Fire department (SVFD) to see how we had managed during COVID-19. It prompted a conversation between SVFD Fire Chief, Bryan Collins and Dan regarding “the year of 2020” and our COVID management response.
Chief Collins shared our early and quick emergency management planning that put us in a good position to be pro-active, responsive, and to keep our employees and our finances safe and healthy. This strategy allowed Spokane Valley Fire to continue to serve our Fire District without interruption to services.
We then continued to monitor the pandemic and to update and change our plans as needed as local and state updates continued throughout the 2020 year.
We are fortunate to have a dedicated Fire Department from our Firefighters (all members of Local 876), to Chiefs, department leaders, and non-uniformed staff, that were concerned about both the physical and financial health of the community. All wanted to maintain the integrity of the Fire Department and its ability to continue service at a high level and without interruption.
