From educational programs for schools, to free smoke detectors, to timely fire safety tips, the Spokane Valley Fire Department provides a full range of public education programs to benefit the residents, businesses, and organizations within the community.
- PUBLIC EDUCATION
- Jr. Fire Marshal Program - for all second graders
- Fire Safety House Program - for all third graders
- Juvenile Firesetter Intervention for fire offenders under twelve years of age
- Fire extinguisher training for businesses, HOA’s and citizens as requested
- Fire safety talks for businesses, schools, senior groups, etc. as requested
- Career Fair displays
- FIRE CODE ENFORCEMENT
- Inspect all businesses annually per International Fire Code
- Re-inspect businesses as necessary to obtain compliance.
- Review Hazardous Material Management Plans of Businesses
- Plan review of new or remodel commercial construction
- Plan review and witness acceptance tests of Fire Sprinkler or Fire Alarm systems in the City of Spokane Valley. *
- Plan review of plats, short plats, Sub Division, P.U.D. and zone changes etc. for fire hydrant requirements and emergency vehicle access.
- Test all fire hydrants annually
- FIRE INVESTIGATIONS
- Determine origin and cause of all fires
- Investigate all arson/suspicious fires
