Fire Prevention Bureau Services

From educational programs for schools, to free smoke detectors, to timely fire safety tips, the Spokane Valley Fire Department provides a full range of public education programs to benefit the residents, businesses, and organizations within the community.
  1. PUBLIC EDUCATION
    • Jr. Fire Marshal Program - for all second graders
    • Fire Safety House Program - for all third graders
    • Juvenile Firesetter Intervention for fire offenders under twelve years of age
    • Fire extinguisher training for businesses, HOA’s and citizens as requested
    • Fire safety talks for businesses, schools, senior  groups, etc. as requested
    • Career Fair displays
  2. FIRE CODE ENFORCEMENT
    •  Inspect all businesses annually per International Fire Code
    • Re-inspect businesses as necessary to obtain compliance.
    • Review Hazardous Material Management Plans of Businesses
    • Plan review of new or remodel commercial  construction
    • Plan review and witness acceptance tests of Fire Sprinkler or Fire Alarm systems in the City of Spokane Valley. *
    • Plan review of plats, short plats, Sub Division, P.U.D. and zone changes etc. for fire hydrant requirements and emergency vehicle access.
    • Test all fire hydrants annually
  3. FIRE INVESTIGATIONS
    • Determine origin and cause of all fires
    • Investigate all arson/suspicious fires
