Snow Covered Hydrants

Spokane Valley Fire Department would like to remind the public about the importance of keeping fire hydrants visible in front of their homes and businesses. Everyone can assist by making sure the hydrants are visible by removing snow that gets piled up around the hydrants. Firefighters need quick access to a water supply from hydrants to fight fires. After all, it may be your property that needs water for fire suppression. Please help firefighters do their job effectively when every second counts.

There are also many challenges associated with driving large fire trucks through restricted streets during heavy snow conditions. Help maintain clear routes for emergency vehicles to gain access on all streets. Please do not obstruct your roadway when parking or piling snow on the streets.

Administration Building Update

The new administration building is coming along quite nicely as you can see. Completion of the structure and move in date is scheduled for April. On April 12, 2012, the administration offices and the IS department is scheduled to be moved over to the new building. Please accept our apologies as there may be a short interruption in business. There will be an open house for the citizens to tour the new building in the spring.

Station 3 Open House

Spokane Valley Fire Department will open its doors on Saturday, January 28th, from 1PM until 4PM. The Fire Commissioners, Staff, and Citizens are invited to join the crew for the Open House. You will have a chance to talk with the on-duty crew, take a tour of the station and have some refreshments.

Spokane Valley Fire Department is in the process of naming all of its stations and would like some assistance from the citizens. We want you to help us name the fire station at 2218 N. Harvard Rd, currently Station #3. In the past, stations have been identified by numbers, as in, Fire Station #1-10. SVFD would like to better identify and connect the stations with the neighborhood communities the stations reside in. While at the Open House, write down the name you think would fit best. The station name will be selected by the Board of Fire Commissioners.

Bring your neighborhood’s history and ideas about what the Commissioners should name your fire station.  For details.
