All 9 SVFD Battalion Chiefs are represented by the International Association of Fire Fighters Local 3701, the Spokane Valley Battalion Chiefs. The Local is also affiliated with the Washington State Council of Firefighters. The Battalion Chiefs are responsible for the supervision and readiness of assigned personnel, as well as major division, battalion, and program management. IAFF Local 3701 was formed on January 18, 2007 with six members, and entered into its first contract with the fire department in May 2007.
